Ohio Whitetail Hunts

Opening Week Archery

Opening week throughout the early archery season is one of the best times to be in the woods. The whitetails are comfortable in their summer patterns and not on high alert. This is one of the best times for a big whitetail buck to slip up. These whitetails are moving more during the daylight, making it possible to harvest them. Deerfield Trophy Outfitters focuses on hunting our food sources such as soybean fields and food plots to ensure the best hunt possible.

Pre-Rut Archery
Pre-rut archery season is also a great time of the year to harvest high quality whitetails. We see a lot more movement this time of the year because they are changing from their typical summer patterns. During this time, bucks are becoming territorial and taking inventory on does for the upcoming mating season. To prepare for optimal hunts, we send hunters to rich hard woods where the rut activity will begin.
Prime Rut Archery

Prime rut is essentially the BEST time to be deep into the woods. Our big whitetails are hyper focused on finding a doe in estrus. If a doe is near, a buck is typically not too far behind. This time of the year is when bucks and does travel the most. Whitetails abandon their patterns and are in search of a mating partner. During this hunt, calls and scents can be used to assist in the harvest of a big whitetail buck.

Gun Season
Gun season is a time when whitetails return to their normal food sources and travel patterns. During this season, Deerfield Trophy Outfitters return to their soybean fields and food plots. In addition, we hunt several acres of open woods where bucks can be seen at a far distance.
Muzzleloader

During muzzleloader season deer are constantly on the move to stay warm during Ohio’s coldest time of the year. The vegetation supply is low, so they begin hitting our food sources and corn piles hard. In addition, young does are coming into estrus so you can guarantee lots of action during this season.
